Stop-motion Animation ‘The Present – The Anguish of the Unexpected’.

A while ago one of our students told us about a time when he struggled to open presents given to him because of the unexpected that lay beneath the wrappings. He explained how it caused him such a lot of anguish and anxiety that he would just hide the gift in the wardrobe or under the bed.  He would keep checking it was there over a period of time but it would still take an enormous amount of courage to open the gift.

This little stop motion animation created in Lego is about that experience.   The little lego-man in the film is worried about whatever is in the package and how will this change something?  How will he deal with the Anguish of the unexpected.

Originally this was going to be posted during Autism Awareness Week but wasn’t quite finished in time.  We hope you enjoy it.  Check it out on our youtube Channel or through our website at www.sparkyink.co.uk

Inky & Sparky…Our Studio Character’s launch

A very exciting day for the Studio when we finally show our first video starring our two Studio Characters Inky and Sparky.

Inky is a DroneBot who enjoys inventing and building things.  His favourite film’s are ‘Back to the Future’ and ‘Frankenstein’ and he takes a lot of his creative and scientific influence from them.

In our very first video starring Inky we see him creating his companion ‘Sparky’

Team Yellow Banana complete Test Filming for stop-motion animation ‘BANANA WARS’

Team Yellow Banana completed test filming today for an upcoming stop-motion animation.  Completed without any story-boarding and just using items knocking around the studio, the test animation became more of a brainstorming session played out on the table top with a camera as a witness.

This funky little test shoot will be made into a short stop-motion animation with special FX to turn up the heat a little.

The stars of the show are a miniature Star Wars ATAT, his loyal pilot and a clay-made creature from Planet X (the legendary ‘not sure if it exists’ Planet that is doomed to hit Planet Earth).  With the situation showing the Doomsday Clock as at 3 minutes to midnight; lust for fresh fruit – mainly Banana’s is rife.

Watch this space for the progress and announcement of the finished animation.

Taster Session with Chesterfield Autism Acceptance Group At Monkey Park.

Sparky Ink were delighted to be invited to meet with a new group of ‘inkers and thinkers’ in Chesterfield on Friday 13th January.  Local group Chesterfield Autism Acceptance Group; who meet monthly at the Social Enterprise Monkey Park which is based in Chesterfield, invited us to meet the group and run a taster session.  So we grabbed our gear and went over.  We were met by a warm reception of lively individuals who wanted to know more about what Sparky Ink Studio was about, the workshops we run and our involvement within the Autism community.

As part of the taster session we made a human animation with the whole of the group, which involved a chain of participants creating a ‘Abbey Road’ inspired crossing of the whole of the cafe, right in the heart of Monkey Park.  The group had no stage fright and worked well together responding to the camera in-between bouts of laughter as they created the animation.  The roars of laughter at the end of filming while watching the footage demonstrated the fun and enjoyment of participating in the taster. Over coffee and jaffa cakes our team helped share some of our skills and helped to make a ‘Mario’ inspired table top stop-motion animation with a few of the younger members.

The Chesterfield Autism Acceptance Group is a fairly new group and was started up to help support people with Autism and their families in the area.  As a Studio who is positive about Autism we were really pleased to have been asked to run the taster.  Not only is it a chance to meet new people but also to do something fun and take people out of their comfort zones to work together and participate is a group activity.  It was also good for us as a studio to get out and about and meet new people in the area.

Fantastic encouragement for all in involved!
