Team Yellow Banana completed test filming today for an upcoming stop-motion animation. Completed without any story-boarding and just using items knocking around the studio, the test animation became more of a brainstorming session played out on the table top with a camera as a witness.
This funky little test shoot will be made into a short stop-motion animation with special FX to turn up the heat a little.
The stars of the show are a miniature Star Wars ATAT, his loyal pilot and a clay-made creature from Planet X (the legendary ‘not sure if it exists’ Planet that is doomed to hit Planet Earth). With the situation showing the Doomsday Clock as at 3 minutes to midnight; lust for fresh fruit – mainly Banana’s is rife.
Watch this space for the progress and announcement of the finished animation.
Sparky Ink Studio will be presenting our ‘Starting from Nothing’ Saturday Taster Sessions once a month. The first one will be held on Saturday 18th February 2017. Places are by appointment only and there are several slots still available.

We are still in year Zero but at last a year with a 7 in it! 2017 has been plugged in and ready to go……. We’ve lots lined up over the next few months and will really need to hang onto our hats! Can’t wait to get started.
Back in the Studio tomorrow for our first proper day of 2017, where we will be working on editing and some new ideas for a game we are developing.
Watch this space and thanks for all your support and input over the last few months!
Phew!!! It’s been a busy last few weeks at Sparky Ink Studio with the majority of the work being out and about away from the Studio. The team is completing editing on a few of the projects which we hope to air in the very near future.
There’s a lot to look forward to in the New Year which we are keeping under our woolly hats at the moment. We are looking forward to 2017 with loads of projects planned, it is going to be a very creative time at the studio and in the community. We will enjoy a few days off to recharge our batteries. All that remains to say is Everyone have a fantastic time and we’ll see you in the New Year!!!
When Art & Design Student Amy Susan Hannah first showed me the beginnings of her picture, I didn’t realise the treat I was to be in for a few weeks later, when she unveiled the final piece for our current Art Exhibition ‘Spellbound – Myths & Legends’ now in its final week at West Studios in Chesterfield.
Amy has been a budding artist for a while, studying GCSE Art at school and then moving onto a Level 3 Art & Design UAL Extended Diploma at Sheffield Colleges. Her work, some of which she has shared with the studio in the past, is an exciting representation of various genres and textures and shows real development, aptitude and a fiery passion for all things Art. She is a keen photographer and has the amazing ability to create some fantastic, grotesque and believable wounds, disguises and character replications using make-up.
Amy demonstrates her make-up skills with her Halloween 2016 disguise.
Although really busy with her course work Amy was keen to offer a picture for the exhibition. Her creation was developed from her love of the Grimm fairy tales.
“I mainly choose the Snow White piece as I’ve always loved Grimm fairytales and their art styles.” She shared. “However, I chose to change the way she looked and base her looks more on me instead of the original Snow White…but keep the poison apple concept.”

Her picture; finished in gouache, depicts Snow White with the poison apple with vacant yet pleading eyes which follow you around the room. The piece has had a lot of attention at the exhibition and has become a real talking point for the audience. Comments have ranged from how people have been drawn to the creation and cannot decide whether they think that it is demise or regeneration from the bite of the apple. At age 16 Amy has shown incredible perception and flair in her young years to develop this piece. She is an artist to definitely watch out for in the future.
“Sparky Ink Studio has been more than delighted and proud that Amy chose to exhibit such an important piece into our Year Zero Art Exhibition.”
We’d only just begun but due to unforeseen circumstances Sparky Ink Studio’s Autism Friendly Gaming Night ‘8-Bit Evolved’ will not take place as planned this Saturday 19th November. We have a Christmas clash in December so our next one will be on 21st January 2017. As a special offer the first one back will be at a reduced rate of £5.00 so if you would like to be a part of this please give us a shout and we’ll put your names down.
Wednesday 9 November 2016 Russell Wall and Sparky Ink Studio welcomed contributing Artists from Sheffield Cathedral Archer Project Charity when they dropped by to see their work exhibited at West Studios, Chesterfield. It was so good to hear the stories behind the creative pieces the artists had produced. Of further inspiration was to hear about the new projects from crafts to singing in the choir that some of these guys were becoming involved in. It was clear that some good friendships and support networks have been made between with the people that access this charity.
The Studio had the chance to talk candidly with the artists and we will be releasing a show reel in the next week or so. The Exhibition has so far been really successful with a steady stream of visitors. If you are in the area please nip in, grab a coffee and have a look at the work.
